Alameda Health System Strengthens Hospital Leadership
Recent Appointments Further Integrate Care Delivery System Wide

Oakland, Calif. (October 13, 2016) – Alameda Health System (AHS) welcomes James E.T. Jackson and Richard Espinoza into new roles as chief administrative officer of Alameda Hospital, and chief administrative officer of AHS post-acute care, respectively. The appointments are part of an ongoing effort to seamlessly integrate care delivery across the health system.

Mr. Jackson has been an integral member of the AHS executive leadership team since 2012, and currently serves as chief administrative officer of San Leandro Hospital. He will now serve as chief administrative officer of both San Leandro and Alameda Hospitals. Mr. Espinoza will have responsibility for post-acute care provider Fairmont Hospital, as well as all acute rehabilitation, sub-acute services and skilled nursing facilities system wide.

Mr. Jackson and Mr. Espinoza’s integrated leadership roles will ensure a seamless continuum of care for all AHS serves, improving patient and family-centered care and further increasing the value AHS provides to its diverse communities.

Mr. Jackson has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field. Prior to joining AHS, he was a support services assistant administrator with Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in the Diablo Service Area. Mr. Jackson holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.

With strong ties to the community and a key supporter of local wellness programs, Mr. Jackson is also an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, volunteers as a mentor for youth events and frequently speaks to local clubs and organizations.

Mr. Espinoza has over 20 years of experience as a health care administrator, most recently serving as the director of long-term care operations at Alameda Hospital (AH). He has a documented history of providing successful, efficient and profitable operations across multiple post-acute facilities while meeting and exceeding local, state and federal regulations ensuring the highest level of care. Mr. Espinoza holds degrees in legal studies and rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley.
